Fort Lewis men fall short to Colorado Christian; 78-75

Cougars get the win behind a 67 percent shooting in the first half.

The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team lost to Colorado Christian on Saturday night, 78-75 in Lakewood.

The Skyhawks were able to out score the Cougars of Colorado Christian, 40-29 in the second half, but it was not enough to come back from a 14 point deficit at half time. Led by freshmen Jobi Wall and his 17 points in the first half, Colorado Christian shot 67 percent from the field in the opening half, 60 percent from beyond the arc. The Cougars finished the game with five players scoring double digits, three of the players with more than 15 points for the game.

To start the second half, Fort Lewis put together a 14-2 run to get within two point of Colorado Christian. However, the Cougars re-established their lead to up to eight points with less than ten minutes remaining.

Kirk Archibeque led the way in scoring for Fort Lewis, with 20 points and 9 of 14 shooting from the floor while nabbing 14 rebounds to complete the double-double.

With the loss, Fort Lewis falls out of the lead in the RMAC West division, and now have a 5-2 conference record, 14-4 overall. Colorado Christian improves to 4-3 in conference, second place behind Metro State in the East division. The Skyhawks will travel to Alamosa to face the Adams State Grizzlies on Tuesday night at 8pm.
